Sheron Pamela Chin began her career working in the Fashion Industry as a graduate of the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. She had showrooms representing new and upcoming designers in New York, Dallas, Atlanta, and California. Looking to venture into a new type of business, Sheron opened her first restaurant thinking that she would eventually go back into the fashion world where she had always been happy. However, she ended up getting completely involved in her new business as it started to take off. Sheron began cooking additionally to baking which fueled the beginning of her hospitality journey. She brought her artistic & creative abilities to the restaurant world which translated into a fusion of delectable cuisines, not only in taste but also in presentation. With over twenty years of experience creating extraordinary culinary masterpieces, Sheron Chin has a simple philosophy, “One eats with their eyes before their first bite.”
Her first restaurant was the Brooklyn Mobay which sat only 10 people, but later to her pride and joy, she opened The Harlem Mobay Uptown Restaurant seating between 80 and 100 guests. Sheron’s success began to evolve as she went on to cater to numerous celebrities. Her restaurants eventually earned a 4-star rating by The Zagat Awards. Sheron went on to be featured on ‘The G Garvin Cooking Channel’, some Caribbean TV networks, and The Food Network’s ‘Throwdown With Bobby Flay’ which she actually won.
Continue her journey she opened a new restaurant called Baton Rouge, in a historical landmark brownstone building in Harlem’s Sugar Hill. During this time, Harlem was experiencing a process of de-gentrification known as the Harlem Renaissance. Sheron became a pioneer as one of the first figures to step forward and take the risk that this era imposed on minority-owned businesses.
After owning several restaurants in NYC, Sheron eventually decided to relocate to south Florida shifting focus on launching Standing Ovation Events & Catering / DBA Chef Sheron Catering Lifestyles, the total package. Her list of clientele includes corporate & private entities such as; Broward college’s Bailey Hall Performing Arts Center; as an exclusive caterer, Sunshine Health, Florida State Minority supplier development council, among others. Sheron is a recipient of the South Florida Minority Development Council 41st Gala Awards, ‘MBE supplier of the year.’ While in Florida Sheron also participated as one of the celebrity chefs representing the Caribbean in ‘Spice it up! Miami.’ Voted Best caterer in South Florida by Legacy Magazine 2022. Awarded by Legacy as one of South Florida’s Most Powerful & Influential Black Business Leaders of 2022.
Her specialties feature a healthy fusion of Caribbean, southern & Latin cuisines, with offerings such as her ultra-savory Pork Tenderloin stuffed with scented apricot churrasco & the “Soul Sushi” concept…including Collard green/ Sun-dried tomatoes/ mango pick a‘ pepper drizzle, Jerk chicken sushi rolls with mango avocado.

On his show ‘Throwdown With Bobby Flay’, Famous Chef Bobby Flay surprises award-winning chefs and masters in different styles of cooking by challenging them to an unexpected cook-off on their own turf. Chef Sheron was the proud winner of the challenge which was featured on The Food Network.
Spice It Up Miami
Spice It Up Miami is a monthly culinary experience that takes place at the Caribbean Marketplace cultural destination located at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex, 5925 NE 2nd Avenue in Miami. “This is the place to be for food lovers who are looking for a memorable night that showcases the local and international flavors of food, dance, and music that is Miami”- states event producer Marie Louissaint. In celebration of Caribbean Heritage and Soul Food month, Spice It Up! Miami hosted Chef Sheron in one of their monthly events.

Being a part of the Go green cookbook
The ‘Go Green Cookbook’ was the first cookbook focused on the Harlem dynasty of restaurants showcasing the diversity of its culinary culture. Chef Sheron is The Chef and owner of The Mobay Uptown Restaurant located on the Famous 125th st. The restaurant features a fusion of Caribbean and southern cuisine and was chosen as one of the key pioneering restaurants at the pivotal point of the gentrification period of Harlem. The book highlights her twist on the famous southern sautéed collard greens using a combination of all fresh herbs and spices that Chef Sheron has transformed from the classic dish typically made with smoked meat such as turkey or ham hocks to an exciting burst of flavors and fresh herbs that teases your palette and leaves everyone wanting for more, “…who needs the meat?”
