About Chef Sheron

Sheron Pamela Chin began her career working in the Fashion Industry as a graduate of the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. She had showrooms representing new and upcoming designers in New York, Dallas, Atlanta, and California. Looking to venture into a new type of business, Sheron opened her first restaurant thinking that she would eventually go back into the fashion world where she had always been happy. However, she ended up getting completely involved in her new business as it started to take off. Sheron began cooking additionally to baking which fueled the beginning of her hospitality journey. She brought her artistic & creative abilities to the restaurant world which translated into a fusion of delectable cuisines, not only in taste but also in presentation. With over twenty years of experience creating extraordinary culinary masterpieces, Sheron Chin has a simple philosophy, “One eats with their eyes before their first bite.”

Her first restaurant was the Brooklyn Mobay which sat only 10 people, but later to her pride and joy, she opened The Harlem Mobay Uptown Restaurant seating between 80 and 100 guests. Sheron’s success began to evolve as she went on to cater to numerous celebrities. Her restaurants eventually earned a 4-star rating by The Zagat Awards. Sheron went on to be featured on ‘The G Garvin Cooking Channel’, some Caribbean TV networks, and The Food Network’s ‘Throwdown With Bobby Flay’ which she actually won.

Continue her journey she opened a new restaurant called Baton Rouge, in a historical landmark brownstone building in Harlem’s Sugar Hill. During this time, Harlem was experiencing a process of de-gentrification known as the Harlem Renaissance. Sheron became a pioneer as one of the first figures to step forward and take the risk that this era imposed on minority-owned businesses.

After owning several restaurants in NYC, Sheron eventually decided to relocate to south Florida shifting focus on launching Standing Ovation Events & Catering / DBA Chef Sheron Catering Lifestyles, the total package. Her list of clientele includes corporate & private entities such as; Broward college’s Bailey Hall Performing Arts Center; as an exclusive caterer, Sunshine Health, Florida State Minority supplier development council, among others. Sheron is a recipient of the South Florida Minority Development Council 41st Gala Awards, ‘MBE supplier of the year.’ While in Florida Sheron also participated as one of the celebrity chefs representing the Caribbean in ‘Spice it up! Miami.’ Voted Best caterer in South Florida by Legacy Magazine 2022. Awarded by Legacy as one of South Florida’s Most Powerful & Influential Black Business Leaders of 2022.

The taste of your delicious lamb chops still lingers as I write this note. Thank you Chef Sheron Chin for catering the most amazing New Year’s Eve party. I knew that the food would be outrageously good, but the presentation exceeded my expectations. My guests were in awe as your costumed staff served your delicious Caribbean conch salad in beautiful martini glasses, and they waited in anticipation for the next culinary presentation. With feathers and masks, you transformed my home into an amazing masquerade ball. I’m still getting compliments on the food and the decor. You are an amazing chef, a creative decorator, very professional, organized, and fun. You are the total package. Thank you for taking my party over the top.
